ichigos YOKOHAMA

ichigos YOKOHAMA is Kanagawa Prefecture’s first aerial strawberry-picking farm, operated by a husband-and-wife team of nurses. By incorporating advanced facilities, the farm provides a safe and comfortable strawberry-picking experience for visitors.
The farm’s greenhouse utilizes a Dutch-origin hanging gutter system. Unlike conventional elevated cultivation methods, this system features suspended cultivation shelves even in the walkway areas, maximizing sunlight utilization and enabling 1.6 times the usual number of strawberry plants to be grown. The equipment is sourced from Spain, the greenhouse itself is imported, and the environmental control devices are domestically made—creating a farm that integrates multinational technologies.
The walkways are approximately 1.5 meters wide, allowing ample space for strollers, wheelchairs, and even stretchers to pass through comfortably. The lower-tier cultivation height is set at about 90 cm, ensuring easy reach for children and wheelchair users. Instead of hand-picking the strawberries, visitors use dedicated scissors and baskets, allowing for careful harvesting.
After strawberry picking, visitors can relax and enjoy their harvest at designated table seating. Unlike most farms, where strawberries are typically eaten on the spot in the harvesting area, ichigos YOKOHAMA provides a separate space for a more leisurely experience. Additionally, while the standard strawberry-picking time in Kanagawa is 30 minutes, this farm offers an extended 40-minute session.
Although the cultivation shelves are placed above the ground, waterproof ground sheets are laid out, allowing visitors to participate without worrying about getting dirty—making casual clothing perfectly suitable. To ensure visitors enjoy only fully ripe strawberries, the farm operates on a reservation-only system, carefully managing the harvest to provide the best quality fruit.
For the 2024 season, the farm grows 12 different strawberry varieties. The available selection changes depending on the time of visit, allowing guests to enjoy a diverse taste comparison.
Visitor Information
- Reservation required (No walk-ins)
- No parking available (Please use public transportation)
- Strawberry-picking season: January to May
ichigos YOKOHAMA is dedicated to sharing the joy of fully ripened strawberries—rarely found in supermarkets—with as many people as possible. Be sure to visit with your family and friends for a unique and delightful experience!
Myōhōyu

Myōhōyu: The Beloved Sentō of Shiinamachi — A Community Haven Since Pre-War Times
At first glance, Myōhōyu may appear to be a modern sentō, but it is actually a long-established bathhouse that has been a part of the local community since before World War II. While many sentō have gained popularity through recent renovations, Myōhōyu is a pioneer of the modern-style sentō, shaped by the dedication of its owner, who has long served as a community welfare commissioner.
Meticulously Refined Water Quality & Bathtubs
The water at Myōhōyu is softened and enhanced with nano-microbubbles. These ultra-fine bubbles deeply cleanse pores, removing dirt and odors effectively. To maximize this high-quality water, fresh water is constantly poured into the baths, creating one of the largest overflow systems in Tokyo.
A Must-Visit for Sauna Enthusiasts – One of Tokyo’s Hottest Saunas
A standout feature of Myōhōyu is its sauna. The men’s sauna reaches an impressive 120°C, one of the highest temperatures in Tokyo. Despite its compact size, the extreme heat ensures high circulation rates, allowing more visitors to enjoy the experience without long waiting times—an innovative, efficient system.
Additionally, the cold bath is designed with a depth of 1 meter, ensuring a thorough cooldown. The perfect balance between the scorching sauna and the refreshing cold bath has earned Myōhōyu high praise among sauna lovers.
Unwavering Commitment to Cleanliness
Traditional sentō paintings, often prone to mold, have been removed in favor of a large television in the bath area. The walls feature large, easy-to-clean tiles, maintaining a pristine and hygienic environment.
Thoughtfully Designed Amenities for Women
The women’s bathing area is adorned with colorful floral washbasins, and high-quality bath amenities are carefully selected. During summer, cooling bath products are provided, ensuring a refreshing seasonal experience.
The showers also use softened nano-microbubble water, effectively cleansing hair of dirt and oil. While hair may initially feel slightly stiff after washing, the treatment ingredients penetrate deeply, leaving it surprisingly smooth and silky.
The dressing room is equipped with skincare products and ion hair dryers, providing a well-rounded self-care experience. For those heading home after a bath, wearing a face mask without makeup is a popular choice.
Myōhōyu preserves the charm of a traditional sentō while incorporating modern innovations to meet contemporary needs. With its ultra-hot sauna, nano-microbubble baths, immaculate facilities, and well-stocked amenities, it offers something for everyone. If you find yourself in Shiinamachi, don’t miss the chance to unwind at this exceptional sentō!
