When you hear the term “frozen bread,” what kind of image comes to mind?
While many people may freeze store-bought bread at home, it’s not very common to purchase bread that is already frozen.
Style Bread Co., Ltd., a company specializing in the production and sale of frozen bread, originates from a bakery in Kiryu City, Gunma Prefecture, that has been in business since the Taisho era.
The fourth-generation owner, Satoru Tanaka (current CEO), was deeply impressed by the deliciousness of frozen bread during a visit to the United States as a baker. He was particularly moved by the phrase, “It’s delicious because it’s frozen at its best.”
Upon returning to Japan, he faced various challenges, including securing funds, setting up a factory, procuring equipment, and refining the manufacturing process. It took five years of dedication and effort to bring his vision to life.
Since launching its frozen bread business in 2006, the company has supplied its products to over 4,000 establishments, including Michelin-starred hotels and restaurants, wedding venues, in-flight meals, and even daycare centers. Additionally, to bring the experience of freshly baked bread into households, the company has created a consumer brand and now offers a subscription-based delivery service.

The Ywangan region of Myanmar is known as the “Panama of the East” and has been attracting attention from coffee lovers around the world in recent years. In 2016, the Amayar Women’s Coffee Group, a group of 50 women from local farmers, was established there. We at RoCoBeL import the specialty coffee beans, which are carefully made using only carefully selected coffee cherries, to Japan through fair trade. We use a small automatic roaster developed by our company to roast and commercialize them at continuing employment facilities for people with disabilities in Japan. The theme of this coffee is “Connected Coffee.” From coffee farmers in Myanmar to people with disabilities who roast and process it in Japan, to sellers who purchase and sell it. Finally, the people who buy and drink it are all connected by a single thread. We are providing coffee that is filled with the thoughts of many people.
There are many types of Connected Coffee, but the flagship product is “Connected Blend”. It blends specialty coffee beans from Myanmar with premium coffee beans from Brazil (Caramelich S18). This coffee has a rich, yet refreshing taste. In collaboration with Shibuya font, an art project for people with disabilities that was born out of a souvenir project in Shibuya Ward, the coffee label features works by artists with disabilities. There are currently 28 labels to choose from. The coffee is sold in the form of drip bags, which you can easily drink by simply pouring hot water into a cup without using a dripper or other equipment.
