“Our first trip in Australia just the two of us. There wasn’t much planning, but there was blind trust that Kutjarra would give us the best experience. And it did!

First stop: Nelson Bay.

We arrived at night, with only a bit of rain left behind. We stopped to eat by the beach! We had a meal with a Belgian couple traveling in a van.

We didn’t really know where to stop for the night, so we slept inside Kutjarra in a parking lot by the beach, with the sea breeze caressing us and the sound of the waves in the background.

The next day, we used the kitchen for the first time and had breakfast by a lake. Trekking at Tomaree Head and the beach at Zenith Beach. Incredible place! The typical photo you wish could be your wallpaper, but it was right in front of our eyes.

By midday, we headed to Seal Rocks. Again, we didn’t know where to sleep. While Tincho was driving, I called a couple of campgrounds, but none had availability because it was the weekend before Christmas!

“We don’t have availability, but call this campground, it’s very nice,” said a woman very kindly.

So we went there: Tiona Holiday Park, a little north of Seal Rocks and next to Seven Mile Beach.

We arrived there by chance and it was spectacular. A very narrow strip of land, with the road in the center; on one side: trees, camping, and a lake; on the other: trees, camping, and the sea. We got the sea side! We arrived just in time to watch the sunset over the lake, so much peace!

Silence that turns into music. Music of water hitting the shore rhythmically, of gentle wind moving the tree leaves, of the song of a bird, a cicada, a frog.

We walked in the lake, surrounded by vastness, watching the sunset.”
